Module I
Instrument Assessment Through Performance
Objectives :
Analysis and identification of playing sensations and the underlying causes of recurring difficulties, whether they affect playing in general or occur specifically in certain passages of the piece being performed. Understanding how these issues relate to the instrument’s adjustment and maintenance.
Theory and hand-on activities:
• Listening in Performance: Play and listen to selected excerpts from your exam or concert programme.
• Analysing Technical Challenges: Identify the specific technical difficulties presented by the score.
• Identifying Playing Difficulties: Recognise physical limitations or discomfort caused by instrument-related issues (response, intonation, sluggish keys).
• Separating Player from Instrument: Learn to distinguish between difficulties arising from your own playing technique and those caused by the instrument.
Module II
Mechanical Optimisation and Precision Adjustments
(Upper and Lower Joints)
